Yesterday, folks online were celebrating what looked like a rare moment of backbone: a Hampton Inn in Lakeville, Minnesota reportedly canceled reservations tied to DHS and ICE agents. People took it as a hotel saying no to ICE.
Today, Hilton stepped in and shut that down fast. Hilton says that location is a franchise, meaning it is independently owned and operated. Hilton apologized to DHS, said the cancellations went against company values, and removed the Lakeville property from Hilton systems. SMH
So the story went from stand up moment to corporate cleanup in less than 24 hours. A franchise tried to make a call and do what’s right and the parent brand made sure everyone understood who gets the final say.
What do you think this really says about corporate power, immigration enforcement, and who gets protected in America? Have the day you voted for!
